What is Eye care:

The human eye is an organ that reacts to light and has several purposes. The biggest one is enabling vision. Rod and cone cells in the retina allow light perception, color differentiation and awareness of depth. The human eye can distinguish about 10 million colors. We don’t often give our eyes as much thought as we should, that is until something goes wrong and our vision is affected. The eye has many parts that must work together to produce clear vision:
  • The Sclera (white part of the eye) protects the eyeball
  • The Pupil (black part at the center of the eye) is a hole through which light enters the eye
  • The Iris (colored part of the eye) controls how much light enters the eye by changing the size of the pupil
  • The Cornea (a clear window in front of the eye) covers the iris and the pupil
  • The lens (located behind the pupil) acts like a camera lens by focusing light onto the retina at the back of the eye
  • The Retina detects light and turns it into electrical impulses for the brain to understand

Unfortunately, in such a complex organ there are many things that can go wrong. Common eye conditions include:
  • Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
  • Cataracts
  • Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)
  • Detached and Torn Retina
  • Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Floaters and Flashes
  • Glaucoma
